Underwood School is a vibrant academic and social community of students, parents, caregivers and staff. We value each individual member of our Underwood family and take pride in the richness of our school’s diversity. We are committed to developing a positive, joyful, and inclusive school culture, and work hard to create a safe place for children to explore interests as they begin their path of self-discovery and intellectual growth. In partnership with families, we actively dismantle structures rooted in racism and replace them with systems and structures that lead to more equitable outcomes for all students. We use effective, high-quality culturally responsive teaching practices to help students develop as people, meet high academic standards and develop meaningful student habits that will span a lifetime. The work that students, faculty and staff engage in can be characterized by collaboration, perseverance, and risk-taking. The Underwood team values the social emotional development of its students and recognizes the importance of having each child feel valued and belonging to the school community.
